Bad News for Government Employees: Annual Pension Increase Halted

Lahore: The Punjab Finance Department has announced the termination of the annual pension increase for three categories of pensions. This change took effect from today, impacting all government employees who retire after this date. Secretary Finance, Mujahid Sher Dil, has issued a directive to all administrative secretaries and department heads in this regard.
According to the 2015 circular issued by the Finance Department, the annual pension increase has now been suspended, as outlined in Paragraph 1 of the 2015 memorandum. Similarly, the increase provided under Paragraph 2 of the 2011 memorandum has also been terminated. Furthermore, the pension hike introduced by the 2022 circular, as per Paragraph 1, is now cancelled.
The Secretary Finance has instructed all departments and organizations to take necessary administrative steps to ensure that pension increments are stopped as per the new directive, effective from December 2, 2024.
