Islamabad:Renowned comedian Babu Rana recently shared his thoughts on various topics, including the success of famous TV host Aftab Iqbal. Speaking in a podcast with Ahmed Butt, Rana revealed that when Aftab Iqbal was in Pakistan, he used to earn around 1.5 to 2 crores per month. However, Rana admitted that he is unaware of how much Iqbal is now earning in Dubai.
During the conversation, Babu Rana also expressed his desire to live his final years in Canada, emphasizing that he always strives to avoid hypocrisy in his life. Reflecting on his past, Rana shared an interesting anecdote from his theatre days. He recalled a time when he performed comedy at a theatre, but no one applauded his performance. When actor Feroze Khan performed after him, he received no applause either. Rana humorously told Feroze Khan in Punjabi, “I’m plain, and your performance has also failed.”
Babu Rana discussed how the theatre industry lacks direction, a situation he believes should not exist. He also mentioned that one of his bad habits is trusting people too quickly.
Rana also revealed that he stumbled into comedy by accident, although he has always been passionate about singing. He recalled working on a theatre show as both the writer and director, with the comedians rehearsing under his guidance. However, the lead actor left the show after seeing the audience’s response, which led to Rana stepping into the role. After performing, the director asked if he would pursue professional theatre, to which he agreed, marking the beginning of his career in the field.
