Lahore: National white-ball team captain Babar Azam is facing widespread speculation about his retirement from Test cricket following his recent underwhelming performance in the series against Bangladesh.
Reports indicate that after struggling in the Test series against Bangladesh, Azam has been subjected to harsh criticism on social media, with false retirement posts circulating rapidly.
The first fake post appeared on Monday afternoon, crafted with such conviction that it briefly misled cricket fans. This initial post was soon followed by an even more sensational false retirement announcement from a different parody account, which quickly went viral and caught media attention.
Azam, who has been struggling in the longer format of the game, was dismissed for just 11 runs in the second innings of the second Test against Bangladesh. He has amassed only 331 runs in his last 106 Test innings, with no half-centuries to his name.
