Asad Qaiser Expresses Concerns Over Military Courts and Government’s Actions

Islamabad:Former Speaker of the National Assembly and senior leader of PTI, Asad Qaiser, has expressed concerns about the use of military courts for trials, noting that there are widespread reservations, particularly from the European Union, the UK, and across the globe, regarding military court trials. He also mentioned that PTI shares these concerns about the trial of civilians in military courts.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Asad Qaiser said, “We are disappointed with the trials and decisions made by military courts, and we are also disheartened by the Supreme Court’s ruling. In such a situation, where does the public go? The constitution grants the right to peaceful protest. A law was passed forbidding rallies in Islamabad—does Islamabad not belong to Pakistan?”

He criticized the government for misusing its powers and stressed that this is becoming a part of the nation’s history. “Due to the country’s current economic and political situation, we have opted for dialogue and negotiations,” he added.

Qaiser reaffirmed that Imran Khan is a popular leader, and public surveys would reveal that 99% of the people believe the cases against him are politically motivated and part of a vendetta. He strongly opposed the new cases filed against PTI leadership, calling them part of a broader campaign of political revenge.

“Our stance is clear: we demand the rule of law in the country. We call for the release of all innocent PTI workers, including the founder of PTI, Imran Khan,” Asad Qaiser emphasized. He expressed his confidence that no PTI worker had committed any violent acts, such as breaking pots, during the recent protests. “We stand for an independent judiciary and the rule of law, and we will never back down from our position,” he added.

Further criticizing the media, particularly private television channels, Asad Qaiser accused them of running one-sided propaganda against PTI, turning into a government propaganda tool. He argued that this practice is damaging their credibility and trust among the public.
