Mumbai: Renowned Indian actor Arshad Warsi has stirred discussions about the nature of stardom in Bollywood, stating that true stardom only resides with icons like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan. In a recent interview, Warsi expressed his views on the artificiality of current celebrity status, claiming that the chase for stardom has become futile and is now largely based on self-created illusions.
Warsi remarked, “In my view, legends like Dilip Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan genuinely embody stardom. They don’t need social media to establish their identity.” He emphasized that while social media influencers may gain temporary recognition, it lacks the depth and longevity of true talent.
Discussing the impact of different platforms, he noted, “The platform that has truly revived actors and creative individuals is OTT. The influence of other platforms is self-generated. There’s no real talent behind it. I appreciate their work, but unfortunately, it isn’t sustainable.”
