Lahore: In the aftermath of the Paris Olympics 2024, where Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem clinched the gold medal, his mother has expressed heartfelt sentiments towards Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra. She referred to Chopra as her “son” and conveyed her hope that he will win in future competitions.
In an interview, she stated, “Neeraj Chopra is like a son and a brother to my son Arshad. Victory and defeat are a matter of fate, and I pray that someday he will also achieve success and win a medal.” She further emphasized her pride in her son’s achievements and expressed her plans to greet him with flowers upon his return.
Previously, during another interview, she had expressed immense pride in Arshad’s success, stating that she could not find words to describe her joy and hoped that her son would continue to bring honor to the country.
Similarly, Neeraj Chopra’s mother, Saroja Devi, shared similar sentiments after the javelin throw finals. She celebrated her son’s silver medal while also acknowledging Arshad Nadeem’s victory. Saroja Devi described Nadeem as her “son” and praised his hard work, adding, “We are very happy. Even silver feels like gold to us. The person who won gold is also like our son. Everyone reaches there only after working very hard.”
In the javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics, 26-year-old Neeraj Chopra, under significant pressure, secured the silver medal with a 89.45-meter throw in his second attempt, while Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem set an Olympic record with a throw of 92.9 meters to win gold.
