Islamabad:Arshad Nadeem, who set a world record and won the gold medal in Javelin Throw at the Paris Olympics, received a special water cannon salute as his plane touched down in Pakistan.
Nadeem’s flight, TK 714, landed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport at 1:25 AM. His arrival was met with an exceptional welcome, with family members, provincial ministers, WAPDA officials, and a large number of fans present at the airport to greet him.
Following his arrival from Paris via Turkey, Nadeem was given a grand reception. Due to the large turnout of admirers, he was transported in a double-decker bus. The national hero expressed his gratitude to the crowd by waving and acknowledging their cheers and affection.
After the reception at the airport, Nadeem’s convoy, aboard the double-decker bus, set off towards Mian Channu via the motorway.
Nadeem achieved an Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters in the men’s javelin throw event. His victory marked Pakistan’s first gold medal in 40 years and made him the first Pakistani athlete to win an individual Olympic gold medal.
