QUETTA: Prominent minority leaders from Quetta, including Jamshed Sadiq, Adnan Arif Jahangir, Arshad Khokhar, Arsalan, and Aamir Sadiq, have appealed to the government to investigate irregularities and corruption in the Minority Affairs Department of Balochistan. They urged for holding those responsible accountable so that projects for the minority community can reach their fruition and benefits can trickle down effectively.
During a press conference held on Monday at the Quetta Press Club, they expressed concerns over fundamental rights, education, health, living conditions, unemployment, and security challenges faced by communities across the country due to systemic exploitation in political, social, and economic realms. They emphasized that the government, through public representatives, should play its role in improving the welfare and development projects for the minority community.
The leaders highlighted that during the previous government tenure, the Minority Affairs Department and other international fund-receiving entities received funds totaling more than 35 billion rupees. However, these funds have not been utilized effectively for the welfare and facilities, which has exacerbated the challenges for the minority community. They urged the current government and accountability institutions to take note of this and conduct investigations into the utilization of these funds to expose those involved and ensure accountability. This, they believe, will facilitate proper spending of funds for their welfare and development in the future.
