Anurag Kashyap Criticizes Bollywood for Lack of Creative Vision, Claims Hindi Film Industry Is in Danger

Islamabad:Renowned director Anurag Kashyap has once again sharply criticized the current state of the Hindi film industry, claiming that Bollywood filmmakers lack the vision and technical expertise required to make films like *Pushpa: The Rise* or its sequel *Pushpa 2: The Rule*.

In an interview with Indian media, Kashyap expressed his disappointment with Bollywood’s creative abilities, saying that filmmakers in the industry are unable to produce films on the scale of *Pushpa*. He pointed out that Bollywood is struggling to compete with the regional cinema of South India, particularly Telugu films, which have gained immense success.

Kashyap stated, “Bollywood filmmakers do not have the creative vision or the technical knowledge to make films like *Pushpa: The Rise* or its sequel *Pushpa 2: The Rule*.” He emphasized that the lack of innovation in Bollywood is evident from the rise of regional cinema, which has been able to create more compelling and unique stories.

The director further claimed that Bollywood is no longer willing to take bold risks, leading to a significant decline in the quality and diversity of films being produced. He said, “The Hindi film industry is in danger, and they are not ready to take any courageous steps. They don’t understand filmmaking, and they can’t make films like *Pushpa* because they simply don’t have the brains for it.”

Kashyap also explained that filmmakers in South India, such as Sukumar—director of *Pushpa*—are given the freedom and resources to create ambitious projects. “Sukumar is the kind of filmmaker who can make *Pushpa*, because in South India, they invest in their filmmakers and empower them to make films,” Kashyap noted.

He concluded by stressing that Bollywood filmmakers fail to understand the essence of filmmaking and the value of supporting creative talent. Kashyap’s remarks reflect the growing divide between the traditional Bollywood industry and the innovative regional cinema that has been gaining popularity in India.

*Pushpa 2: The Rule*, which is the sequel to the massive hit *Pushpa: The Rise*, features Allu Arjun in the lead role, with Fahadh Faasil and Rashmika Mandanna also playing significant parts. The film has continued the success story of its predecessor, earning praise for its storytelling, action sequences, and performances.
