Anti-Corruption Establishment Orders Action Against Contractors and Relevant Department Officials Over Neglected Loralai-Sanjawi Road
QUETTA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment, under the directive of Director General Abdul Wahid Kakar, has initiated strict measures against contractors and officials of the concerned department regarding the deplorable state of the Loralai-Sanjawi road, a 20-kilometer stretch plagued by disrepair for the past 15 years.
Over the years, successive governments have allocated millions from the public treasury for the construction of this road, with approximately 70 crore rupees approved in 2023 and 2024 alone. Despite significant funds, including a substantial amount diverted separately, the road condition has deteriorated further.
Pedestrian movement has become nearly impossible, with heavy traffic carrying coal from Sanjawi and produce from Duki passing daily. The road’s condition, worsened by dust and potholes, poses serious risks to patients traveling from Sanjawi and Duki for medical care.
Political and social circles in Loralai have repeatedly protested the neglect, even resorting to strikes to highlight public demands for attention to the road’s dire state.
Acknowledging the commendable steps by the Anti-Corruption Establishment Balochistan, local political and business circles have demanded decisive action to ensure the construction of a durable and high-quality road.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment’s move underscores a commitment to accountability and transparency, aiming to rectify long-standing infrastructural deficiencies that have adversely impacted the lives and safety of local residents.
