Anser Abbasi Claims Military Establishment Holds Full Confidence in PM Shehbaz Sharif’s Leadership

In a recent statement, journalist **Ansar Abbasi** has claimed that the current military establishment, under the leadership of Army Chief **General Asim Munir**, has complete trust in Prime Minister **Shehbaz Sharif**’s performance, hard work, and administrative abilities.
Abbasi, citing a senior source, revealed that Shehbaz Sharif is considered “excellent” due to his discipline, diplomatic prudence, and understanding of Pakistan’s power dynamics. According to these sources, despite the ongoing political divides and significant economic challenges, the military establishment views Shehbaz Sharif as the most suitable person for the role of Chief Executive.
This trust, Abbasi further noted, is mutual. Shehbaz Sharif has repeatedly praised the Army Chief’s professional skills, discipline, and national vision. He has also acknowledged the military leadership’s support in addressing national challenges.
Moreover, credible sources claim that General **Asim Munir** has also privately commended Shehbaz Sharif’s performance as Prime Minister. This mutual trust and appreciation between the political leadership and military establishment present a rare scenario in Pakistan’s politics, where historically, these powerful circles have rarely trusted each other.
While some circles have implied that Shehbaz Sharif has not lived up to the expectations of the establishment, well-informed sources have dismissed these claims as baseless. Shehbaz Sharif has long been known as an effective and results-oriented administrator, and he is considered close to the military establishment.
Interestingly, **former President General Pervez Musharraf**, who ousted **Nawaz Sharif**’s government in 1999, has also acknowledged Shehbaz Sharif’s administrative capabilities. It is believed that the same military establishment, which distanced itself from Nawaz Sharif during his tenure (2013–2017), considers Shehbaz Sharif its top priority for power.
However, Shehbaz Sharif faced legal challenges after he declared his loyalty to his brother **Nawaz Sharif**, resulting in his imprisonment. Subsequently, the establishment shifted its support to **Imran Khan**, leading to political consequences that continue to affect the nation.
The relationship between Shehbaz Sharif and the military establishment appears to be a critical factor in the current political landscape, especially as Pakistan faces both domestic and international challenges.
