American Woman Travels to Pakistan for Love, Faces Rejection, and Finds Help from Governor of Sindh

A 33-year-old American woman, Onya Andrew Robinson, traveled all the way from New York to Karachi in pursuit of love, only to face rejection from her love interest’s family due to a significant age gap and her complicated personal life. The young man, a 19-year-old from Karachi’s Garden West area, had captivated the woman’s heart, prompting her to leave her husband and two children in the United States.
Onya had applied for a tourist visa to Pakistan on October 5, 2024, and was granted a one-month visa by October 9. Upon her arrival in Karachi, she was shocked to learn that the young man’s family disapproved of her, citing her age, her divorce, and the fact that she had two children.
Feeling rejected, the young man disappeared after leading the woman to believe he would marry her. With the money she brought along, Onya managed to survive for a few days before becoming destitute and lost. For the past seven days, she had been stranded at Jinnah International Airport.
Her plight caught the attention of Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, who met the distressed woman at the airport. Governor Tessori, moved by her situation, immediately took action to assist her. He arranged for an extension of her visa until February 11, 2025, and made arrangements for her return flight to the United States.
This story of love, heartbreak, and unexpected kindness highlights the complexities of relationships across cultural boundaries and the support that can arise in the most unexpected circumstances.
