Islamabad:As cities combat rising temperatures and strive to cool indoors, the proliferation of air conditioners outside buildings is exacerbating environmental conditions worldwide. Experts from Agricultural University warn that while ACs cool rooms, they simultaneously heat outdoor environments continuously. They emphasize that AC usage can escalate external temperatures to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, contributing significantly to a half-degree Celsius rise in global temperatures over the past century. Environmentalists caution that if AC numbers continue to rise unchecked, irreversible damage to natural ecosystems could result. They advocate for increasing urban greenery instead of relying solely on air conditioning to moderate temperatures.
