AI Technology Now Predicts Death Dates—But It’s Just for Fun

While it’s impossible to predict when a person’s death will occur, artificial intelligence (AI) technology is now being used to forecast this with surprising accuracy.

A website featuring an AI model called “Death Clock” claims to predict the date of death based on user details such as birthdate, gender, smoking habits, alcohol consumption, weight, and outlook on life. After entering this information, the website generates a prediction about the user’s death day.

Interestingly, if the user isn’t frightened by the prediction, they are offered an option to learn the supposed cause of death as well.

However, the website makes it clear that the prediction is meant for entertainment purposes only and does not offer a real forecast of an individual’s death date.

Before this, an AI app with the same name also existed but worked differently. The AI model behind the app was trained using data from over 1,200 research reports on average life expectancy. These reports included information from more than 53 million people and considered factors like diet, exercise, smoking, stress levels, and sleep patterns to predict death dates.

According to the developer, Brent Franssen, the app’s primary goal is to encourage people to take better care of their health. The app displays a “Death Day” card, but its main purpose is to motivate users to focus on their well-being.

While these AI models offer intriguing insights, they should be taken with a grain of salt as they are not based on any proven science for predicting an individual’s exact date of death.
