Lahore: Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, Ahmed Khan, has declared his intention to initiate a reference against the Chief Election Commissioner in the Supreme Judicial Council if immediate resignation is not forthcoming.
Speaking at the Lahore High Court, Khan demanded the Commissioner’s prompt resignation during media interactions, emphasizing that the Pakistan Peoples Party does not support the government’s decisions on restrictions. He cited previous applications of Article 6 in the country and alleged that all actions were politically motivated.
Khan asserted that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf remains the most popular party in the country and criticized the Punjab Chief Minister for focusing solely on actions against the opposition rather than addressing public concerns. He warned of upcoming protests against rising inflation and stated readiness to counteract economic hardships effectively.
