Chaman:Authorities at the Afghanistan-Pakistan border have enforced new restrictions, barring entry without national identity cards or documentation, despite recent efforts to normalize cross-border operations.
Previously, Commander Haji Laloo Khan Achakzai and Malik Anayatullah Kasi had announced plans to revive traditional practices at the border. However, today’s developments mark a departure from the relaxed policies under the Friendship Gate, with the Afghan Border Force implementing measures following negotiations with the government.
On Monday, Afghan border officials refused entry to local traders and laborers from Chaman due to the inability to present identification cards or documents. The Afghan authorities have unilaterally decided terms for negotiations with the government, expressing dissatisfaction with their exclusion from consultation.
