Senior actress Salma Zafar Aasim has shared details about her early marriage and personal life, revealing that she got married at a young age and even obtained her national identity card after her wedding. Salma recalled that in the past, it was common for families to marry off girls early, believing that women should focus on their careers after moving to their in-laws’ house. Reflecting on her own experience, she explained that her mother was ill and concerned about her future, which led to her early marriage. Salma’s husband is five years older than her. She expressed deep gratitude for her in-laws, particularly her mother-in-law, from whom she learned many valuable life lessons. She credited her success and growth to her relationship with her in-laws, saying, “Whatever I am today, it’s because of my mother-in-law.”
When asked about her husband’s second marriage, Salma shared an intimate story. She revealed that her marriage was arranged by her aunt and that her husband, despite being a man of excellent character, had several affairs early in their marriage. Salma explained how, after three months of intense observation and some turmoil, she sought advice from her father-in-law, which helped her come to terms with the situation. Eventually, she made the difficult decision to allow her husband to remarry.
Salma further explained how she dealt with the emotional complexities of the situation. “I told my husband to make his relationships official by getting married instead of having affairs,” she said. After giving her husband permission to marry again, Salma spoke to her children about the change in the family structure. She told them that if they wanted their father to remain with them and not end up in the grave, they needed to accept his second marriage. Her daughter agreed, but her son responded emotionally, stating, “I will agree only if I never see you crying.”
Salma also shared a heartwarming detail about her family. She mentioned that while many know she has two daughters and one son, she actually has two sons—one of whom was born from her husband’s second marriage. Salma described how she handled the situation with love and understanding. “When my husband had a son from his second wife, I told the children to stay united. They bonded well, and my biological son even told his stepmother, ‘If you say anything to me, I will hide behind my big mama,’” she recalled with a smile.
