Sindh Approves Rs2.723 Billion Grant for People’s Community Health Services Company
KARACHI: The Sindh Cabinet has approved a grant of more than Rs2.723 billion for the newly established People’s Community Health Services Company as part of the provincial government’s efforts to strengthen primary healthcare services across the province.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, where several measures related to public welfare, healthcare, justice, and workers’ rights were also approved.
According to the cabinet’s decisions, the government approved the company’s 2026–27 fiscal year budget, including Rs200 million as initial capital and a grant of Rs2.723 billion to support its operations.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the primary objective of the People’s Community Health Services Company is to strengthen community-based primary healthcare and expand access to essential medical services for underserved populations across Sindh.
The cabinet also approved the appointment of Sehar Iftikhar Khan as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Additionally, it authorized the chief minister to approve future changes to the company’s Board of Directors.
During the meeting, the Sindh Cabinet also approved proposed amendments to the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, and the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Act, 2025.
According to the Chief Minister’s spokesperson, the proposed amendments will be presented before the Sindh Assembly for approval. The changes are intended to improve the administrative functioning of anti-terrorism courts and strengthen the legal framework to ensure the speedy disposal of terrorism-related cases.
Murad Ali Shah said the provincial government remains committed to enhancing the justice system and improving the effectiveness of anti-terrorism laws to support timely prosecution of terrorism cases.
