Qatar Says U.S.-Iran Diplomatic Efforts Over Strait of Hormuz Crisis Enter Critical Phase
Doha:Qatar has said that diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran and resolve the Strait of Hormuz crisis have entered a critical stage, with regional mediators actively working to facilitate dialogue.
According to international media reports, the remarks were made by **Majed Al Ansari**, spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a press conference in Doha.
Al Ansari said efforts to reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran are continuing, with all relevant parties remaining engaged in diplomatic contacts aimed at finding a peaceful solution.
He revealed that draft proposals for a possible agreement between the United States and Iran have already been shared with the parties involved, adding that several countries in the region are working together to help resolve the dispute.
The Qatari spokesperson said Qatar, in coordination with Oman, is playing a key role in facilitating communication between the two sides, exchanging proposals, and consulting on potential draft agreements.
According to Al Ansari, an initial draft of a possible agreement has been prepared and circulated among the concerned parties for consultation. He noted that the exchange of draft texts is a normal part of the negotiation process and described the current developments as a positive sign.
He emphasized that the immediate priority for mediators is to secure a short-term arrangement that would enable the United States and Iran to return to formal negotiations.
However, Al Ansari acknowledged that there is currently no official schedule for direct talks between Washington and Tehran.
He expressed hope that an early resumption of negotiations could pave the way for a comprehensive agreement that would not only improve U.S.-Iran relations but also strengthen peace and stability across the region.
Al Ansari also voiced optimism that the ongoing diplomatic efforts would produce positive results and encourage all parties to pursue dialogue as the preferred path to reducing tensions.
