Supreme Court clears PTI founder’s hospital transfer appeal for hearing
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has accepted a chamber appeal filed by the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan, setting aside the objections raised by the Registrar’s Office against his petition seeking transfer to a hospital.
Chief Justice Yahya Afridi issued the orders during a preliminary hearing, directing that the case be processed for regular hearing.
The chamber appeal was heard by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi in his chambers, where PTI founder’s counsel, Uzair Karamat Bhandari, appeared before the court. After hearing the arguments, the chief justice rejected the Registrar Office’s objections and approved the appeal.
During the proceedings, the chief justice also directed the petitioner’s counsel to submit a duly signed power of attorney (Vakalatnama).
The court instructed the Registrar’s Office to assign a regular case number to the appeal regarding the PTI founder’s request for hospital transfer so that further proceedings could continue in accordance with the law.
The Supreme Court further ordered that the petition be linked with a related case being heard by Justice Uzma Khan. The court also approved the request for an early hearing of both petitions.
