Trump Claims U.S. Has Crippled Iran’s Military Capabilities, Says Tehran Seeking Talks

Michigan: U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that the United States has destroyed key elements of Iran’s military capabilities, including its navy, air force, leadership, and air defense systems.

Speaking at a General Motors test facility in the state of Michigan, Trump said the United States had significantly damaged Iran’s ability to manufacture drones and missiles.

He claimed that Iran’s drone production capacity has been reduced to “about seven percent” of its previous level.

Trump also said that Iran is currently engaged in talks with the United States, arguing that negotiations would not be taking place if Washington had not adopted a firm stance.

“Iran has been challenging the Middle East for the past 47 to 50 years,” Trump said.

Criticizing former President Barack Obama, Trump stated that it was a mistake to believe Iran could be persuaded through financial incentives.

“You can’t bribe them; you can hit them,” Trump said, adding that the United States has been striking Iran with force.

He concluded by saying that discussions with Iran are currently taking place in a “very friendly atmosphere” and added, “We’ll see what happens.”
