Terrorist Attack in Tank Foiled; 12 Militants Killed, 15 Security Personnel Martyred

Rawalpindi: Fifteen security personnel embraced martyrdom while security forces killed 12 terrorists after foiling a cowardly attack by Fitna al-Khawarij militants on a joint police check post in Tank, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing, terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij launched an attack on the check post during the night of July 23 and 24 and attempted to breach the security perimeter and enter the facility.
ISPR stated that security forces responded swiftly and effectively, thwarting the terrorists’ nefarious designs and killing 12 militants who attempted to flee the scene.
Following the failed assault, the attackers rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the outer wall of the check post, causing severe damage to its infrastructure.
The military’s spokesperson said that 15 brave sons of the nation were martyred in the attack, including 12 soldiers, two police personnel, and one official from the Forest Department.
ISPR further stated that a clearance operation is underway to eliminate any remaining militants present in the area and reaffirmed that the counterterrorism campaign will continue with full force.
The Pakistan Army’s media wing emphasized that externally sponsored and supported terrorism will be eradicated from the country and that the supreme sacrifices of the nation’s brave personnel further strengthen Pakistan’s resolve in the fight against terrorism.
