JUI-F and Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party Announce Plans for All Parties Conference on Balochistan Security
QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PNAP) have agreed to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) to discuss the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan, particularly in Pashtun-majority areas.
The decision was made during a telephone conversation between PNAP Senior Deputy Chairman and former Senator Raza Muhammad Raza and JUI-F Balochistan chief Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey. The two leaders discussed the worsening security situation, the rise in terrorist incidents, and the challenges facing the people of the province.
They expressed deep sorrow and concern over recent violent incidents, including those in Ziarat, Hanna Urak, and Mastung, as well as attacks on passenger vehicles along national highways that resulted in the deaths of civilians, women, travelers, and government officials.
The two leaders said the repeated incidents have raised serious questions about the performance of institutions responsible for maintaining law and order and have intensified fear and insecurity among the public.
They agreed that the prevailing situation requires a united response from all democratic, political, nationalist, and public-oriented forces. To that end, they proposed convening an All Parties Conference at the earliest opportunity under a mutually agreed agenda, with the participation of political party leaders, parliamentary representatives, and other relevant stakeholders.
According to the statement, JUI-F proposed that its chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, would convene the conference in the near future to bring political parties together for consultations on restoring peace and ensuring the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
Former Senator Raza Muhammad Raza welcomed the proposal, saying the current situation demands a united, responsible, and effective response from all political parties and democratic forces.
He stressed that protecting the lives and property of citizens, eliminating terrorism, upholding the Constitution and the rule of law, and establishing lasting peace are shared responsibilities that require cooperation beyond political differences.
The two leaders also agreed that the All Parties Conference would hold detailed discussions on the security situation and formulate a joint strategy to address terrorism, highway insecurity, and other challenges confronting Balochistan.
They concluded by paying tribute to those who lost their lives in recent terrorist attacks, expressing condolences to the bereaved families, praying for the speedy recovery of the injured, and reaffirming their commitment to working with all democratic and political forces to restore peace, eliminate terrorism, and strengthen the rule of law in the province.
