NDMA Warns of Flooding and Urban Flood Risk Across Pakistan During Heavy Monsoon Rains

ISLAMABAD:** Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of possible flooding in eastern and western rivers, streams, and low-lying urban areas between **July 19 and July 23** due to heavy monsoon rainfall.

In a statement shared on social media, the NDMA said a strong monsoon system, combined with a powerful western weather disturbance, is expected to bring heavy rainfall to **Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and upper Punjab** from **July 20 to July 23**.

The authority cautioned that the affected regions face a significant risk of **flash floods and hill torrents**, particularly in mountainous areas.

The NDMA also warned of potential flood surges in the **Chenab River at Marala** and the **upper reaches of the Jhelum River near Mangla**, urging local authorities and residents to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures in flood-prone areas.
