Oil Prices Surge 9% as US-Iran Tensions Escalate

International:Global oil prices recorded a sharp increase of nearly 9% amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran.
According to media reports, **Brent crude** climbed 9.1% to **$82.90 per barrel**, while **West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude** also gained 9.1%, reaching **$77.87 per barrel**.
The surge came after U.S. President **Donald Trump** announced the reimposition of a U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports, while exchanges of attacks between the two countries continued to intensify.
Energy analysts said the sharp rise in oil prices was driven by growing concerns over the **Strait of Hormuz**, a strategically vital waterway through which a significant portion of the world’s crude oil supply is transported. Fears of disruptions to oil shipments have heightened uncertainty in global energy markets, pushing prices sharply higher.
