Pakistan Raises Petroleum Levy on Petrol to Rs80 Per Litre Amid Fuel Price Hike

Islamabad:The federal government has increased the **petroleum levy on petrol by Rs9.64 per litre**, raising the levy to **Rs80 per litre** from the previous **Rs70.36 per litre**.
According to media reports, the petroleum levy on **high-speed diesel** has been left unchanged at **Rs70.82 per litre**.
The increase in the levy comes alongside a fresh rise in fuel prices. The government has raised the price of **petrol by Rs13.18 per litre**, taking the new rate to **Rs310.71 per litre**, while **high-speed diesel** has become **Rs13.80 per litre** more expensive, bringing its new price to **Rs323.30 per litre**.
Sources said the higher petroleum levy is expected to increase the financial burden on consumers, as the levy directly contributes to the overall retail price of petroleum products.
