Mir Shafiq Mengal Survives Khuzdar Attack; Spokesman Claims 12–14 Associates Killed, Five Suicide Attackers Dead

Khuzdar: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Mir Shafiq ur Rehman Mengal survived a major attack on his residence in Khuzdar, where heavy fighting reportedly continued for nearly two and a half hours, according to his spokesman.

Speaking to Intikhab News, spokesman Nadeem ur Rehman Muhammad Shahi said that the attack began with a suicide bombing, followed by an intense armed assault on Mengal’s residence. He claimed that Mir Shafiq ur Rehman Mengal personally supervised the defense during the clashes.

According to the spokesman, between 12 and 14 of Mengal’s associates were killed, while several others sustained injuries during the attack.

He further alleged that the attackers used heavy weapons during the assault and that five suicide attackers were killed in the ensuing gun battle.

The claims were made by Mengal’s spokesman and had not been independently verified. Authorities have not yet released an official statement confirming the reported casualty figures or the circumstances of the attack.
