Balochistan Issue a Result of Political Victimization, Need for New Constitutional Settlement and Dialogue: Mir Asad Baloch

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta): BNP Awami leader Mir Asad Baloch has said that the situation in Balochistan has been deteriorating since 2006. He stated that conflicts in countries like Afghanistan and Iraq were also resolved through negotiations, stressing that dialogue remains the only viable solution.

He remarked that the recent Iran-Israel conflict has only been temporarily halted for a year and cautioned against any false sense of optimism regarding regional stability.

Mir Asad Baloch alleged that the country is being run under the “doctrine of necessity” and claimed that constitutional violations have been committed in the current budget. He added that under the Constitution, the NFC Award should be announced every five years, but this has not been done, terming it a violation.

He further said that the country cannot prepare its budget without the IMF, while in mineral-rich areas such as Chagai and Washuk, land allotments have already been carried out. He also alleged that giving funds to deputy commissioners reflects a lack of confidence in the provincial assembly.

Rejecting the perception that MPAs misuse development funds, he said such claims are incorrect. He added that the issue of Balochistan could be resolved through Islamic principles and alleged that political victimization is being carried out against him.

He stressed the need for a new constitutional or “social contract” to ensure lasting peace in the province through dialogue and political settlement.
