Government Declines to Reveal Exact Tax Relief Figures in FY27–26 Finance Bill Amid IMF Talks

ISLAMABAD: The government has refused to disclose detailed figures of tax exemptions and reliefs granted to various sectors under the Finance Bill for fiscal year 2026–27.

Officials said that ongoing negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (International Monetary Fund) over finalizing budget measures are the main reason for withholding full details from the public at this stage.

According to estimates, tax relief measures including reductions for salaried individuals, abolition and phased reduction of super tax, lower tax rates for exporters, and easing of taxes on real estate transactions are expected to place an estimated burden of around Rs 360 billion on the national exchequer in the upcoming fiscal year.

The government maintains that all measures are still under review as discussions with the IMF continue, and final figures will be shared once the budget framework is finalized.
