NDMA Issues Alert as Water Flow Surges Due to Melting of Hispar-Hopper Glacier in Gilgit-Baltistan

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert after a significant increase in water flow was recorded due to the melting of the Hispar-Hopper Glacier in Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to the NDMA, water levels in the river near the Hispar-Hopper area have risen suddenly. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and remain fully informed about ongoing developments.

The NDMA has directed local administrations to implement precautionary measures to ensure the safety of residents living along riverbanks.

Residents of several areas in Gilgit district, including Goro Jaglot, Rahimabad, Nomal, Jutal, Jaglot Colony, and Chilmish, have been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

Travelers have also been urged to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines. The NDMA recommended the use of the Pak NDMA Alert App for real-time updates and precautionary information.
