Pakistan Slashes Petrol and Diesel Prices by Rs 22 per Litre

Islamabad: The federal government has announced a significant reduction in the prices of petroleum products, cutting petrol and diesel rates by Rs 22 per litre each on the third day of Eid.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 22 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs 381.78 per litre.

Similarly, the price of diesel has also been reduced by Rs 22 per litre, setting the new rate at Rs 380.78 per litre.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) also issued a notification stating that the price of kerosene oil has been reduced by Rs 41.44 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs 272 per litre, down from Rs 313.44 per litre.

Officials from the Petroleum Division said that the petroleum levy structure has been adjusted, with a reduction of Rs 10.83 per litre on petrol, bringing it down from Rs 102.17 to Rs 91.34 per litre.

However, the levy on diesel has been increased by Rs 10.93 per litre, raising it from Rs 58 to Rs 68.93 per litre, while the levy on kerosene oil remains unchanged at Rs 20.36 per litre.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that providing relief to the public remains his top priority, adding that relief measures were also announced in the previous week.

He further stated that the government continues to support the public even in difficult economic conditions, including subsidies for public transport, goods transport, motorcycles, and rickshaws.
