China-Pakistan Friendship Remains Strong as a Rock, Says Chinese Foreign Minister

BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and reaffirmed that the friendship between China and Pakistan remains “as strong as a rock” regardless of changing global and regional circumstances.
According to a statement issued by China’s Foreign Ministry, the meeting focused on bilateral cooperation, regional peace, and the continued development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir said Pakistan takes pride in its “iron-clad and timeless friendship” with China. He added that China’s global influence and international standing have continued to grow in recent years.
The statement said the Pakistani army chief praised Chinese President Xi Jinping’s global initiatives and the Belt and Road Initiative, saying they have played an important role in promoting global peace and development.
Field Marshal Asim Munir also assured full support from the Pakistan Army for the continued construction and security of CPEC projects.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi described Pakistan as a “trustworthy and effective mediator” that enjoys the confidence of all parties. He said China appreciates and supports Pakistan’s efforts for peace, adding that although peace is difficult to achieve, it will ultimately prevail.
Wang Yi further stated that the Pakistan Army has always been an important force in promoting cooperation between the two countries and strengthening bilateral ties.
