New Zealand removes quarantine requirement for passengers

New Zealand has announced to end a requirement that incoming travellers isolate themselves as it continues to remove coronavirus border protections in the face of a growing domestic outbreak.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the requirement that vaccinated travellers isolate for a week after arriving would end on Wednesday.  

She said that initially, the change would be for returning New Zealanders only, while tourists are still not allowed to come.

It is to be noted that even after the quarantine condition expires, passengers will still need a negative report of the coronavirus test before and after traveling for the country.

Furthermore, these changes have been welcomed by the tourism industry. However, the leaders sought further assurances about the return of tourists.

It should be noted that New Zealand earns 20 percent of its revenue from international tourism, which has been depleted since the onset of the global epidemic.
