Parachinar Airport in Kurram District Restored to Operational Status

PARACHINAR: The long-inactive Parachinar Airport has been reactivated after a prolonged period of closure, officials said.
According to sources, the development comes through joint efforts of the Pakistan Army, the Frontier Works Organization, and the Pakistan Airports Authority.
On April 26, the Pakistan Army Aviation conducted operational landing and takeoff trials to assess runway functionality and operational readiness. A total of six successful landing and takeoff trials were carried out during the exercise.
Officials said the purpose of the trials was to evaluate runway performance and ensure compliance with operational requirements and safety standards. Following the assessment, the runway and related facilities were declared fit according to professional aviation standards.
Authorities added that the restoration of the airport is expected to improve regional connectivity and facilitate air travel in the remote Kurram district.
