Armed Attack Targets Mining Site in Balochistan, Security Forces Launch Operation

Quetta — An armed attack was carried out on a mining site operated by National Resources Limited (NRL) in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, prompting a swift response from security forces.

According to a statement issued by the company, the incident occurred on April 22, 2026, at approximately 5:45 PM in the Darigawan area of Chaghi district. Unknown gunmen targeted the site, after which personnel of the Frontier Corps and other law enforcement agencies secured the area and initiated a clearance and search operation.

NRL said it is in close coordination with security authorities and will provide further updates as more information becomes available. The company emphasized that the safety of its employees and operations remains its top priority.

The Quetta-registered firm is a joint venture involving Fatima Fertilizer, Liberty Mills, and Lucky Cement. According to information available on its website, NRL holds exploration licenses for gold and copper across approximately 500 square kilometers in Balochistan.
