Maulana Fazlur Rehman Expresses Concern Over Pak-Afghan Border Situation, Urges Restraint

Islamabad: Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has expressed deep concern over the ongoing situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and urged both countries to exercise patience, tolerance, and responsibility.
In a statement issued by the JUI media cell, he said Pakistan’s security concerns are legitimate and should be addressed seriously. However, he stressed that Afghanistan’s sovereignty and its internal challenges must also be respected.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman warned that emotional reactions and harsh statements from either side are increasing complications and could negatively impact regional peace.
He emphasized the need to develop a reliable bilateral security framework while adhering to internationally recognized norms to help ease tensions. According to him, diplomatic engagement remains the only sustainable solution, whereas unilateral military actions could further complicate the situation instead of resolving it.
The JUI chief called for an immediate ceasefire between the two countries and underlined that restraint is essential for ensuring peace and stability in the region. He also urged well-wishers of both nations and peace-seeking countries in the region to play a constructive diplomatic role in reducing tensions.
