Benazir Income Support Program Begins Registration for Educational Stipends for Low-Income Families

**Islamabad:** The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has officially launched nationwide registration for educational stipends for children from low-income families. According to private TV reports, the initiative aims to provide financial assistance to deserving children, reduce school dropout rates, and give talented students greater opportunities to advance in education.

BISP officials said the program specifically targets children at risk of missing out on education due to financial difficulties. Parents or legal guardians can register their children at the nearest BISP office.

For registration, a child’s **B-Form issued by NADRA** and a mobile number already linked with BISP records are mandatory. After verification of the required documents, the officer will complete the registration and issue a slip. This slip must be submitted to the child’s school, and after educational verification, it will be returned to the BISP office to finalize the stipend process.

Eligibility criteria for the stipends include:

* Children whose mothers are already enrolled in the **Benazir Kafalat Program**
* **Age limits:** 8–18 years for primary education, 13–22 years for secondary education
* **Minimum 70% school attendance** required
* Students must notify BISP in case of a school change to maintain accurate records

Under the program, students will receive **PKR 3,000 to 5,000 per month** or as per the designated period. Additionally, girls completing primary education will receive an **extra PKR 3,000** as a special incentive.

BISP officials emphasized that the initiative will not only promote overall education but will play a crucial role in encouraging girls to continue their education and pursue higher studies. They added that the program is part of the government’s commitment to providing equal educational opportunities to children from economically disadvantaged families, helping them move toward a brighter future.
