Ideological Politics Dead, Self-Interest Driven Politicians Have Disappointed Public: Maulana Muhammad Khan Shirani

Quetta (Daily Qudrat) – **Maulana Muhammad Khan Shirani**, senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, has expressed deep concern over the decline of ideological politics in the country, stating that **politicians driven by self-interest have disappointed the public**.
In an interview with a private TV channel, Shirani said, “The era of ideological politics is over. Scholars and political leaders, instead of guiding the people, are prioritizing personal gains and distancing themselves from the public. If this continues, political parties will further lose credibility, and the public’s trust in them will erode.”
He criticized current leaders for ignoring the public in favor of personal interests and lamented that politicians who once claimed to follow ideological principles are now undermining democracy within their own parties. Shirani added that such actions have created widespread public disillusionment with politics.
Shirani also shared his personal stance, saying, “I have always raised principled objections within my party. I believe decisions should be made for the welfare of the public, not for filling personal pockets. Despite facing opposition, I have chosen to stand by principles and will continue to encourage the public to fight for the interests of the country and the people, rather than for personal gains.”
