Balochistan Food Authority Issues Mandatory Expiry Date Requirement on Eggs

Quetta:According to a press release issued by the Balochistan Food Authority, it has been mandated that eggs must have an expiry date clearly marked on them. The directive aims to ensure the complete traceability and quality control of eggs and their packaging across the province. It is now mandatory for all eggs sold in Balochistan to bear an expiry date on their packaging, while they must also be fresh and clean.

In this regard, suppliers, wholesale traders, and retail shopkeepers have been warned to ensure that eggs sold at their premises from August 31, 2024, onward are labeled with an expiry date. Additionally, all records related to the supplied eggs must be maintained at the shops. Violations after the specified date will result in strict legal action under the Balochistan Food Authority Act 2014.

The public is urged to refrain from purchasing eggs without an expiry date and to promptly report any such instances to the Balochistan Food Authority.
