Balochistan Bars Announce Boycott of Judicial Proceedings Following Government Crackdown on Peaceful Rally
Balochistan:In a joint statement issued today, the Pakistan Bar Council, Balochistan Bar Council, Balochistan High Court Bar Association, High Court Bar Associations, and Quetta Bar have vehemently condemned the government’s actions during the Baloch Unity Committee’s rally in Baloch Razi Mach. They criticized the government for firing on peaceful rally participants, violence, deaths, injuries to political activists, arrests, and violence against women and children.
The bar associations expressed severe condemnation over the violence against women and children and the arrests and disappearances of hundreds of political activists. Consequently, the Balochistan Bar Bodies have announced a boycott of all judicial proceedings across Balochistan on Monday, July 29, in protest against these incidents.
The legal bodies emphasized that the government’s actions have crossed legal and ethical boundaries, posing a threat to national security. They urged for peaceful dialogue and respect for constitutional duties in addressing public grievances.
The situation remains tense as the legal fraternity prepares for widespread protests against what they term as government overreach and violence in Balochistan.
