FBR Clarifies Incorrect Tax Return Messages Sent to Taxpayers

Lahore: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has clarified that incorrect SMS messages regarding tax returns were mistakenly sent to taxpayers due to a **technical error by telecom companies**.

According to the FBR, messages received **after the tax filing deadline** are **not official** and should be disregarded. The authority has directed the **Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA)** to address the issue immediately.

FBR stated that the erroneous messages were sent due to a **technical fault on the part of telecom operators**, adding that the department will continue to provide taxpayers with **accurate and verified information**.

Following public complaints, the FBR has initiated an **immediate inquiry** into the incident.
