National Party Condemns Use of Force Against Peaceful Baloch Unity Committee Caravans

Quetta:Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, former Chief Minister of Balochistan and head of the National Party, has strongly criticized the use of force to obstruct caravans of the Baloch Unity Committee traveling from Quetta to Gwadar. Expressing deep regret over the injuries sustained by multiple youths due to firing by security forces in Mastung, he denounced the extreme measures as fundamentally incompatible with democratic and human rights.

In a vehemently worded statement, Dr. Malik condemned the highly condemnable and reprehensible acts of violence against women and children, noting that such actions only add to the state of fear and peril. He asserted that the government of Balochistan and state institutions are worsening the situation by resorting to unwarranted violence, including shooting unarmed individuals and demolishing their homes, actions he described as inhumane.

Dr. Malik demanded an immediate halt to the practice of blocking caravans traveling from Quetta and Karachi to Gwadar, removing all roadblocks promptly, and ending the series of activities that endanger people’s lives, thereby recognizing their right to peaceful political protest. He criticized the forced seating of non-elected and non-political individuals in power, highlighting that such inhumane and unethical acts are not reflective of any political governance in Balochistan but rather an imposition of despotic rule upon the people.

He called upon the federal and Balochistan governments to issue immediate directives to all forces stationed on highways to ensure the dignified passage of individuals heading towards Gwadar. Dr. Malik warned of dire consequences resulting from the obstruction of caravans bound for Gwadar, attributing full responsibility to the Balochistan and federal governments. He urged for the provision of better medical care for the injured from the Mastung incident and called for the establishment of a judicial commission to take strict action against those responsible.
