Balochistan Assembly: MPA Agha Umar Ahmedzai Walks Out Over Power and Gas Outages; Speaker Summons Quetta Commissioner on Road Damage Issue

ISLAMABAD – The Balochistan Assembly session on Wednesday witnessed strong protest as MPA Agha Umar Ahmedzai staged a walkout over the continuous electricity and gas outages in the Sariab area. He condemned what he termed as discriminatory treatment towards Sariab, stating that the unending power and gas cuts have made life unbearable for residents.

During the session, MPA Shahida Rauf drew the House’s attention to the deteriorating condition of Quetta’s roads and the severe traffic congestion causing hardship for citizens. In response, Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai summoned the Commissioner of Quetta to his chamber on Thursday to address the issue.

Government MPA Ali Madad Jatak admitted that both Sariab and Quetta are facing severe gas shortages, which have left the public in distress. Despite the quorum not being complete, the Speaker decided to take immediate action and called relevant officials for briefing and necessary steps to resolve these pressing public issues.
