PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Opposes Proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, Urges Restraint to Avoid Tensions

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman **Barrister Gohar Ali Khan** has strongly opposed the proposed **27th Constitutional Amendment**, warning that it could prove to be a **dangerous move** and should be **avoided at all costs** to prevent political and provincial tensions.

Speaking to the media outside **Adiala Jail**, Barrister Gohar said that the idea of establishing *“one court above another”* goes against the **fundamental principles of the Constitution**.

He emphasized that the Constitution clearly prohibits any **reduction in the share of provinces**, and therefore, any amendment that may create **discord among provinces** should be refrained from.

The PTI chairman added that during the PTI government in **2020**, work on the **10th NFC Award** had been undertaken, while all provinces are now awaiting the **11th NFC Award**. He further reminded that the **Council of Common Interests (CCI)** had also imposed a ban on new canals being developed without **unanimous consent**.

Barrister Gohar stressed that all patriotic individuals and political stakeholders should **avoid confrontation**, take a **step back**, and prioritize the **nation’s interests** to pave the way for stability and progress.

Regarding PTI founder **Imran Khan**, he stated that no instructions have yet been received about his possible move to **Islamabad**, adding that *“a decision will be made once he issues directions.”*

It is pertinent to mention that the **federal government** has decided to proceed with the **27th Constitutional Amendment** and has sought the **Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP)** support, while the PPP has begun internal consultations on the matter.
