Lahore High Court Declares Imran Khan’s Physical Remand in 12 Cases Null and Void
Lahore: Lahore High Court has dismissed the physical remand requests against PTI founder Imran Khan in 12 terrorism cases filed on May 9. The court upheld the decision of the anti-terrorism court, declaring the remand null and void. During the hearing, investigators from across Punjab presented records of cases against PTI’s founder.
Punjab Prosecutor General Farhad Ali Shah insisted on conducting a polygraph test, stating that PTI founder had avoided various tests, including the polygraph, raising doubts about the veracity of his statements. In response, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh questioned why investigations weren’t initiated earlier if evidence was available for a year.
Moreover, Justice Anwarul Haq Pannu expressed concerns over the delayed action despite the suspect being in custody. The court emphasized the necessity of transparency, directing immediate measures upon discovering such cases. The prosecution cited tweets by PTI’s founder on May 9, leading to the formation of a comprehensive strategy.
The court’s decision also nullified the attendance note on PTI’s founder’s video link, underlining the need for a thorough investigation given the suspect’s incarceration. However, questions remain unanswered regarding the delayed arrest and the timing of the charges.
