Lahore Qalandars CEO Rana Atif Shaheen Speaks Out on Shaheen Shah Afridi’s Omission from National T20 Team

Lahore: Rana Atif, CEO of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 champions Lahore Qalandars, voiced his opinion on the exclusion of team captain Shaheen Shah Afridi from the Pakistan T20 cricket squad.
In a recent media interaction at NED University Cricket Ground, Rana Atif praised Afridi’s exceptional performance, stating, “Shaheen Shah Afridi is an outstanding cricketer who has proven his capabilities through consistent performances. He is one of the best in his category and deserves a place in the Pakistan T20 team.”
Rana further acknowledged the pivotal role Afridi has played in the success of Lahore Qalandars, mentioning that in the last three years, under his leadership, the team has won four major trophies. “Shaheen has led Lahore Qalandars to multiple victories, and his leadership has been remarkable. He truly deserves to be a part of the national T20 squad.”
He also highlighted the unifying power of cricket, saying, “Sport brings people together, and cricket has always been a game that connects us all.”
Discussing the future of Lahore Qalandars in Pakistan cricket, Rana Atif emphasized the franchise’s continued commitment to nurturing local talent. “Lahore Qalandars will continue to play its part in promoting sports, particularly cricket. We will keep supporting the national talent hunt program under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, ensuring players from regions like Balochistan and Sindh get the recognition they deserve.”
Rana concluded with a hopeful note regarding Karachi’s cricket scene, saying, “Karachi has produced some of the biggest names in cricket. I am optimistic that the participation of Karachi in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy will be resolved smoothly.”
