PTI to Challenge Suspension of 26 Lawmakers, Cites Constitutional Violations

Lahore:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has said that members of the assembly can only be de-seated under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution, and not suspended over protest.
Addressing a joint press conference in Lahore alongside Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar and senior lawyer Latif Khosa, Raja strongly criticized the suspension of 26 PTI lawmakers, terming it unconstitutional. He vowed that PTI would contest the suspensions at every legal and constitutional forum.
Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Khan stated that suspending 26 lawmakers for protesting is against democratic norms. He emphasized that PTI would not remain silent during the Punjab Chief Minister’s presence in the assembly and threatened to form a parallel assembly outside the legislature if needed.
Meanwhile, Latif Khosa dismissed rumors of a government change in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling them wishful thinking by the PML-N.
The press conference highlighted growing political tensions in the country, with PTI signaling a legal and political battle over what it calls undemocratic suppression.
