British Woman Attempting to Travel with Drugs Arrested at Islamabad Airport

Islamabad: A British woman was arrested at New Islamabad International Airport after drugs were discovered in her luggage while attempting to board a flight to the United Kingdom.
According to reports, the woman, identified as Mehwish from Sargodha, arrived at the airport to board a flight via a private airline. Sources revealed that she was being provided protocol by a sub-inspector from a government department at the airport.
Her luggage passed the first screening at the Airport Security Force (ASF) baggage counter. However, after boarding and reaching the second screening point, one kilogram of heroin was discovered hidden in the soles of her Peshawari shoes.
The woman was immediately taken into custody, and upon initial questioning, she claimed that someone had given her the shoes in the UK to deliver to someone there. Further investigations into the government official providing her with protocol revealed that he was also acting on someone else’s instructions.
The first screening counter of ASF in the airport’s departure lounge, where her luggage was cleared, is also under investigation.
The arrested woman, along with the recovered drugs, has been handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further legal action.
