PTI Making Decisions to Benefit Establishment, Claims MNA Sher Afzal Marwat

Islamabad: Member of the National Assembly Sher Afzal Marwat has alleged that every key decision within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over the past two years has been made to serve the interests of the establishment rather than the party or its workers.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Marwat claimed that PTI continues to reward favored individuals through selective decision-making. He said a race for influential positions is ongoing within the party, with loyalty to certain factions being prioritized over merit and sacrifice.
Expressing his disappointment, Marwat stated, “It pains me that the PTI founder is in jail, but the way decisions are being made within the party gives us no hope for Imran Khan’s release.”
He also revealed that a five-member disciplinary committee, led by a woman named Masawat Begwa, was pressured to remove Zain Qureshi from an internal inquiry. However, the committee refused, insisting that no discrimination should be shown. Marwat questioned why others like Riaz Fatyana and Brigadier (retd) Ghuman were not being treated the same way, stating even the PTI founder does not have the authority to discriminate between members.
Marwat further criticized the recent changes in PTI’s organizational structure, claiming that ILF President Shadab Jafri was removed to favor another individual and that Kanwal Shauzab was appointed head of the Women’s Wing, sidelining women who had struggled and remained loyal during difficult times.
Commenting on the judiciary and state institutions, Marwat said, “Our courts are in disarray. There is no hope for justice from any institution. These people can’t even mobilize the public anymore because they have nothing left to offer.”
He concluded by highlighting the case of MNA Chitrali, who, according to Marwat, was unjustly punished and had to secure bail from Peshawar on his own.
