At Home, I’m Just a Joke”: Shah Rukh Khan Opens Up About Life Beyond Stardom at WAVES 2025 Summit

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, often hailed as the “King Khan” of Indian cinema, made a heartwarming and humorous revelation during the first-ever World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES 2025) held in Mumbai. Joined by actress Deepika Padukone, who made her debut alongside him in *Om Shanti Om*, Shah Rukh shared personal insights about his family life and fame.
Addressing the common notion that great success brings loneliness, Shah Rukh said, “People often ask if success makes you lonely. I believe if you can make your children laugh, you’re never alone. And if you don’t have kids, making your parents laugh is enough to never feel lonely.”
He spoke fondly of his children—Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam—calling them the real joy of his life. He admitted that despite his global fame, at home, he’s more of a comic figure than a celebrity. “When I tell my kids to sleep by 10 PM, their reaction is, ‘Oh my God, it’s SRK!’ I’ve become a joke in my own house,” he said, laughing.
Shah Rukh recounted how his son Aryan often mocks his arrival with, “Oh my God, the star is here!” while Suhana chimes in sarcastically, “Big star SRK is saying something!” Even little AbRam, he shared, just giggles when Shah Rukh tries to scold him.
He also recalled a funny moment from the set of *Om Shanti Om* when he scolded Deepika, prompting her to burst into laughter during the session.
Concluding on a reflective note, Shah Rukh emphasized that his success wasn’t just luck but the result of over 30 years of dedication, sacrifice, and hard work. “At home, I’m not a superstar—I’m just a loving father and husband,” he said with pride.
